Flanged Floating Ball Valve
 
Flanged floating ball valves are characterized by their design where the ball is not fixed to a shaft. In these valves, the ball is positioned between two seat sealing rings within the valve body. The ball features a through hole, which determines the flow capacity of the valve.
Full Diameter Ball Valve: The through hole in the ball has a diameter equal to the inner diameter of the pipe, allowing for unrestricted flow.
Reduced Diameter Ball Valve: The through hole in the ball is slightly smaller than the pipe's inner diameter, resulting in a reduced flow capacity.
These valves are referred to as "floating" because the ball moves slightly to ensure a tight seal against the seats, depending on the pressure applied.
