Key Considerations for Installing and Using Wafer Check Valves

Wafer check valves, a subset of check valves, play a vital role in preventing backflow within a pipeline. Commonly referred to as one-way valves or back pressure valves, these valves operate automatically, allowing or blocking fluid flow based on the medium's movement. Here are key considerations for the effective utilization and installation of wafer check valves:

Alignment with Fluid Flow: During pipeline placement, meticulous attention should be given to ensuring the passing direction of the wafer check valve aligns seamlessly with the fluid flow direction.

Vertical Installation Preference: For optimal performance, it is recommended to install wafer check valves in vertically oriented pipelines. In cases of horizontally placed pipelines, the valve should be positioned in a vertical manner.

Telescopic Tube Application: To enhance functionality and longevity, it is advisable to incorporate a telescopic tube between the wafer check valve and the butterfly valve. This practice helps avoid direct connections with other valves, contributing to smoother operation.

Obstruction Minimization: Prevent the inclusion of pipe joints and obstructions within the operational radius of the valve plate, ensuring unimpeded functionality.

Reduction of Reducer Usage: Direct installation of a reducer immediately in front of or behind the wafer check valve is discouraged to optimize performance.

Considerations for Elbow Placement: When situating a wafer check valve in close proximity to an elbow, ample space should be allocated to accommodate its operational requirements.

Outlet Dynamics: At the outlet of water pumps, a minimum of six times the diameter of the valve should be ensured for fluid flow. This consideration prevents interference with the valve plate caused by fluid dynamics, guaranteeing reliable operation.

The wafer check valve, known for its lightweight design and convenient flange installation, comprises two semicircular springs and a plate surface. The rapid deformation of its opening spring serves as a protective measure against water hammer damage to the pipeline. Adhering to these guidelines ensures the optimal function and longevity of wafer check valves across diverse applications.
